My name is Philip Rafferty, I am a Stage Combat Instructor and Fight Director, specialising in theatre violence and teaching actors techniques on how to perform safely and effectively.
I am a member of the Academy of Performance Combat and my work has led me to work with Rose Bruford College base in Belfast. I have also worked with theatres across Ireland such as The Lyric Theatre and Fight Directing for their shows, Good Vibrations (Grand Opera House) & Beauty Queen of Leanne (Lyric Theatre)
Fight Directing Credits:
Good Vibrations 2018 - 2023 (Grand Opera House) & US Tour (Irish Arts Centre)
The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Lyric Theatre Belfast)
Lie Low 2022 - 2023 (Lyric Theatre Belfast, The Abbey, Dublin)
In classes we look at a variety of different weapons, from unarmed combat, to knife and swords, creating choreography that is both exciting to perform and to watch.
The Academy of Performance Combat is an exam body recognised by Equity with Stage Combat Instructors and Fight Directors working all over the UK & Ireland. As part of an intensive course, you will be examined by an examiner from the APC where you will receive Equity recognised qualifications that you can take out in the professional world.
